People can suffer a lot with throat mucus, commonly known as phlegm. This often happens after eating, but it can also happen for other reasons as well as all the time. What does it mean? How can you stop it? When you focus on healthy eating, it can disappear.

Throat mucus is important to keep the area moist and to trap foreign objects, preventing them getting into the sensitive airways. We produce in excess of a litre of phlegm a day and are mostly unaware of swallowing it.

But its production increases, and often becomes thick and difficult to dislodge, when we have a cold or flu, during an allergy attack or after we have eaten something that is not healthy for our bodies.

The production of mucus anywhere in the body is a way of expelling toxins. So it’s a good idea to take any mucus production seriously. What is your body trying to tell you?

And you certainly don’t want to discourage its production without getting to the heart of the problem. Otherwise you increase your toxin levels, and so the mucus production.

It’s common for people to constantly want to clear their throat after a meal. But not after every meal or every type of food.

The common western diet is full of myths and misconceptions. In itself, it is not a healthy diet. And that is without taking into consideration the toxic effects of modern farming, GM food, processed food and more. The list seems endless.

Next time you notice a lot of phlegm production after a meal, remember what you ate. At least one ingredient, or the way it was presented, caused the problem. So you could start by eliminating one thing at a time to discover which one.

This can be a lengthy process, so be patient. Or consult with a natural therapist who understands about mucus production.

It’s common for people to have the throat mucus after consuming any dairy. Most people are allergic to dairy, albeit mildly. The mucus shows a mild allergy. Stopping all dairy may be the answer for you. Or a partial answer.

However, some people have more complex toxicity problems, so they have a permanent production of mucus in the throat. You can alway find them in a crowd – just follow the constant throat clearing!

For family members this habit can, however, be annoying.
